UBLN on the move
The Upper Barwon Landcare Network has relocated from Colac to Birregurra, to better serve Landcare members. The new offices are located at 57 Main Street, Birregurra, next to the General Store. Visitors are welcome any time. Note that a number of workshops are planned for this year - see ubln.org.au for more information, or read the March UBLN "What's On" monthly bulletin.
 
Fresh fruit & veg, cakes for Market
Winchelsea Farmers Market now has FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES and HOME MADE CAKES AND SLICES available at each monthly market (3rd Sundays). Stalls still available at a reduced price - phone Tracey on 0427 500 649 for prices.

Transfer station upgrade

The Winchelsea transfer station has opened its new $50,000 shelter shed, providing improved comfort for customers and staff. The facility offers rubbish disposal (recycled and domestic waste), now with shelter from sun and rain. Solar panels have also been installed to provide renewable energy for electronic transaction processing, printing receipts and powering other small appliances.

 
Medical Centres change

In a fairly major shake-up of Winchelsea's medical facilities, the Mirnee Medical Centre (on Princes Highway) will leave Winchelsea and Hesse Rural Health Service will instead operate from its purpose-built facilities. The centre will continue to provide a pathology collection service and the services of a practice nurse.

School Swimming Carnival

Winchelsea Primary School is to hold its annual Swimming Carnival on Friday 19th February, at the Winchelsea Pool. Aimed at including all students in  50m, 25m, 15m or tabloid races, the event features individual and relay team races. All parents and community members are invited to encourage the two house teams, Leigh and Barwon.

The Swimming Carnival begins at 9am and runs to lunch time. Parent helpers are needed to assist in the running of the day - volunteers should contact Marg Reid  at the school on 5267 2134.

 
St Thomas Church Restoration Benefit

St Thomas Anglican Church is to hold a "Restoration Benefit" dinner & dance - the church is in dire need of funds to stabilise the foundations, and all proceeds from the evening will go to St Thomas.
