The whole point of Neighbourhood Watch is explained by its title - it is all about neighbours, neighbourhoods and how we can all work together to improve the safety, security, confidence and well-being of all members of our community. NHW is an "integral partner" with our police force in crime prevention and community safety.
Our area, SFC01, is part of the Geelong / Bellarine / Surf Coast region, and our meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month with the exception of December. Meetings are at the same venue each time unless otherwise announced ie. the Winchelsea Bowls Club on Hesse Street. Being a community organisation, all members of the community are invited, even encouraged, to com along, add ideas and hear & see what we do. We work closely with our local members of the Victoria Police as part of the vast NHW network. We have a member of the local police attend each of our meetings, and are fortunate to have the monthly Newsletter put together by our own Sgt John Rowley, not to mention the great teams of newsletter distributors! We are well known (even awarded!) for our Schools Day, and our Easter raffle. The Neighbourhood Watch website (www.neighbourhoodwatch.com.au) has several links on home and general security, including a 'Virtual Building Site' dealing with security for homes under construction or renovation.
